Brazilian government opposing Israel - Cristiane Cardoso - English | Cristiane Cardoso - English

Among so many political events in Brazil, it’s not difficult to imagine many important issues are beyond the knowledge of Brazilians. An example of this, is the unfavorable position our nation has taken against Israel.

Our country, which once had a fair view towards Jewish issues, including contributing to the formation of the Jewish State due to the Brazilian Oswaldo Aranha, is now distancing itself more and more by voting against Israel (if you want to know more, search about it on the internet).

Many bad things can unfold through this political position, including spiritual consequences, since those who know the Scriptures know God’s position in relation to anti-Semitism – an ideology of hostility and hatred against Jews. The LORD promised to pour out his blessings upon those who bless the Jewish people; but asserted that there were curses against anyone who stood against Israel.

This Divine principle began with Abraham, as many promises were made to him. The Most High assured the patriarch, through his posterity, of forming a nation and giving it an exclusive territory and protection forever. In addition to earthly blessings, the greatest Divine favour was given to Abraham, his descendents, where the Messiah and Deliverer of all: The Lord Jesus. We see that, through the Abrahamic covenant, the greatest plan of Salvation for humanity was founded.

I will bless them who bless you and curse him who curses you,[a] and in you all families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)

How can you go against cursing those that the Almighty blessed?

Friends and foes of Israel are therefore considered, friends or foes of God Himself. Therefore, it is undeniable that the Jewish nation occupies a unique position in the world, a fact validated by several prophecies.

A clear example of this happened in the past with Egypt. Through Joseph, God blessed the Egyptians, while they remained friendly to the Hebrews. But the same nation was knocked out by God, when it decided to oppress and enslave the chosen people.

In the same way, they took the route of opposition towards Israel, just like Brazil had done repeatedly in international polls, like in the UN and UNESCO, even denying the Jews’ connection to the Temple Mount is folly. In May, for example, our country joined dictatorial systems like the ones in Cuba and Venezuela at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland to accuse the nation of violating the rights of access to health for Syrians who occupy Golan.

An untrue fact, since even the Brazilian press reported that Israeli hospitals had offered treatments to Syrian wounded victims of war that had managed to flee their land.

To finalize, in addition to firmly believing in the infallible Word of God, we know that these resolutions do not reflect the opinion of Brazilians who have long been known and respected by Israel. It is cowardly to ignore that the Israelis face an arduous struggle against powerful enemies. Such discernment should lead, at the very least, the heads of Brazilian diplomacy to defend the understanding between both parties in conflict, and not, to assume positions that are so unbalanced and unjust.

See you next week!
