Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. Genesis 24:1
There was no middle ground in the life of Abraham. He was blessed in ALL THINGS!
Can you picture a healthy, rich, energetic old man that’s as happy as he can be?
For many, being old is the same as being disabled, abandoned and physically fragile.
Isaac went blind, Jacob became sick, but the Bible says nothing about Abraham having any sickness. To the contrary, he died at a good old age (meaning healthy and happy). Abraham was prosperous (Genesis 24:35). Abraham continued to be strong even when he was old (Genesis 25:1,2).
At this point you might be saying, “I want to be like Abraham!”
If this is your sincere desire, understand that everything began when Abraham decided to obey the command to leave behind everything that was the most precious to him, the most valuable, his security.
The Lord said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1
When Abraham left his world behind, everything that represented his life, because of FAITH alone, he began to live in total and complete dependence on God and everything that represented His Kingdom.
If you want to be like Abraham, then do what he did and leave everything behind. Absolutely everything! Lies, tricks, hatred, and every other sort of sin… and sacrifice like he sacrificed.
