He doesn’t come by chance

Why haven’t I received the Holy Ghost yet? Well, if you are asking this question, at least you’ve taken one step toward being baptized: you’ve heard of Him and want to receive Him.

But, you can be sure of one thing: He will not come by chance.

The Word of God says:

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him… 2 Chronicles 16.9

His eyes seek to and fro throughout Earth. But what is He looking for? What does He need to find in you to seal you with His presence?

Imagine that you are a successful entrepreneur who wants to expand his business, but to achieve this, it is necessary to employ (or promote) people for the position of director, manager, etc. Since their salary is not a problem for you, what would be the main characteristics you would look for in these people? Besides the work experience they need to work, you’d surely be looking for someone who is determined to make your business grow. For this to happen, the person needs to be confident so that others could then follow him, but at the same time HUMBLE to learn.

You would also like him to give you his opinion and bring you new ideas, but at the same time it would be necessary for him to be OBEDIENT to follow your direction.

There would be a significant investment, so you don’t want someone that is only going to stay with you for a couple of months, and then find a new job. For this reason, you are looking for someone who is FAITHFUL and willing to be by your side, not only in moments of glory, but also during difficult times.

Your vision doesn’t stop here. You want to continue to expand your business, so you will need other directors and managers in the future. Therefore you look for people who are not selfish, but who are ready to TEACH OTHERS by sharing what they have received from you.

This is, you are looking for people who are HUMBLE, OBEDIENT, FAITHFUL and ready to TEACH OTHERS.

And isn’t this what God is seeking to find in people to fill them with the Holy Spirit?

He wants people who are humble to learn and obedient to put His Word into practice, people that are faithful to Him, especially in times of hardships and temptation, so that they may complete their race by keeping the faith. And, of course, people who are ready to share with others what He has given them, and His Kingdom may expand.

Therefore, if you are not humble, start being humble. If you are disobedient, start obeying. If you have not been faithful, start being faithful. If you are a selfish person, start to share – all these things are your choice to make, and the Holy Spirit will help you.

Do not expect a “magic trick” to have the Holy Spirit come upon you.

PROVOKE your baptism with the Holy Spirit by making the eyes of the Lord find these characteristics in you.

And do not forget: He wants to come upon you much more than you want Him to come.
