A true sacrifice must have both eyes, both legs, and cannot be sick. It is no use for a person to go to the Altar with a physical sacrifice, and not bring a spiritual sacrifice with him. Just as it is useless to go to the Altar with a spiritual sacrifice and no physical sacrifice. When this happens, the sacrifice will be lame, sick or blind, this is, it will not be perfect.
And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, is not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably? Says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 1.8
The rich young man wanted to give the spiritual without the physical, and was not accepted, because an eye or leg was missing from his sacrifice.
“…go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19.21-22
Simon, on the other hand, offered only the physical, but it was not accepted either.
And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!” Acts 8.18-20
It’s life for LIFE!
Elijah didn’t just give the bull and the water; he laid his own life on the Altar.
And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there. 1 Kings 18.40
If God did not answer, who would be killed?
The FIRE of the HOLY SPIRIT will only come down if the sacrifice is healthy, with two eyes and two legs, nothing can be missing, it must be complete, the physical and the spiritual.
