Good afternoon bishop!
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3.8
They hid because Satan had already planted doubt within them. They both hid behind a tree.
Doubt causes people to follow others (remain behind), as in the picture (above). I don’t deserve this! I sinned! I messed up! I can’t! I’m incapable! I don’t know how to speak properly! I’m not pretty enough! Doubts about the church, the pastors, the Bible, Salvation and many others. All these things tie up a person’s material life, besides preventing him from receiving the Holy Spirit. No one decides anything when they’re in doubt; everything gets postponed for later, including the baptism with the Holy Spirit. There are two ways to overcome doubt:
1st– Regard it as sin and confess it before God, for whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans 14.23)
2nd– Look at what God has already done, and the prayers He already answered, so there’ll no longer be doubts, but the conviction that His Word will not fail.
