Many are called, few are chosen…
Who are the called and who are the chosen?
The chosen are among the called; however, not all the called are chosen. Worse than that, though many are called, few are chosen.
Why were many called if they weren’t going to be chosen? I believe they were called so they could have a chance to be chosen. And, in fact, all those who were called have the opportunity to be chosen, but, unfortunately, many of the called have not valued the eternal truths revealed by the Altar. Instead, they ignore or despise them, prioritizing the things of this world more than those of the Kingdom of God. For this reason, they throw away the chance of being chosen.
It is not because they were called that God is obligated to choose them. When God calls, it is only to give them the opportunity to adjust to the conditions of being chosen. The Lord Jesus shows us this when He says:
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7.13
This is, all those who are called can enter through the Gate. The problem is that, because the door is narrow, most begin to drag their feet and do not want to submit to the sacrifice of having to give up this world, their libertine life, and personal projects. No one walks through the narrow Gate if they are full of themselves.
In Revelation 21.8 it is prophesied:
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all the liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
And you, my friend, have you been CALLED AND CHOSEN or are you still being called but haven’t decided to be CHOSEN?
