Faith without Spirit
And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit. Acts 19.1-2
These disciples were the victims of emotional work, a foam-like faith, just as Bishop Macedo has spoken about several times. Certainly, they were formed as disciples by someone who heard the rooster crow but did not know where… The kind of work that causes a movement, but does not save; it promotes miracles, achievements, teaches praises and rules of conduct, but does not pass Spirit, only emotion!
How can a person believe without hearing about the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Faith? Many heard that accepting the Lord Jesus and repenting of their sins is enough… but it’s not!
The disciples’ problem wasn’t in their faith, but the lack of understanding about the Holy Spirit. Their faith was pure. They were sincere and gave themselves in such a way that it was enough for Paul to lay hands on them to be filled with the Holy Spirit:
And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all. Acts 19.6-7
There were only 12, but if they hadn’t had this experience, they would have formed others with the same “faith” (emotive) they received, because we can only give what we have!
Our responsibility is great, because we must speak about the Holy Spirit, promote a Revival, speak more and more about the Spirit of Faith that maintains Salvation.
If every pastor, assistant, evangelist, member; this is, if each person who has experienced being born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit promotes this true faith with actual content, the sincere, those who thirst will be awakened, and filled with the Holy Spirit.
Certainly, those 12 will be multiplied and form others filled with the Spirit they received!
God bless you and Mrs. Esther!
