Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9.24
The first thing that draws my attention here is the word “run.” Run is an action! You will have to run. It is not written to walk, stroll, jump. No. Run! You will feel each and every step. Run! This will involve all of your body, energy, concentration; this is, all your focus, your strength, your all. Run! Ignore the feeling to stop, look back, doubt, and become discouraged or tired. In other words: continue to sacrifice.
And the second thing that draws my attention is “in such a way.” There is a specific way to do this. There is a way to run – there is a way to sacrifice. And the way you run depends on you. This is your responsibility, your part. Run, the only way to sacrifice: the only way that will bring results, knowing that God will guide your steps. Run “in such a way” that you use an intelligent faith.
This “it” is also important. There is a reason for you to run, use your faith and sacrifice. This “it” represents the reason you are in the race. The moment you remove your focus from “it,” you begin to waver and devalue “it.” No one can run for “it” in your place. You are the one sacrificing, planting and grinding, not someone else. And it is between you and God, whatever it may be: a dream, a person, a thing… However, you should also know that there is “it” and there is “It.” When you want to obtain the small “its,” by faith, you will obtain them. But only those who have spiritual eyes will understand that the “It” is the main reason God wants us to sacrifice. This “It” is the greatest achievement we can achieve in our lifetime: Salvation.
The verse ends with “obtain.” God wants us to obtain. There is a fight, yes. But there is also victory. You sacrificed, and God will honor. The moment you act upon your faith, He has already begun to honor you. Do not doubt your sacrifice. Do not let distractions, obstacles (feelings, negative words and thoughts, people that oppose your dreams) bring you down, stop you or make you think God has not heard you. When you obey, as it is written and according to your faith, it is also written that you will obtain.
And so, there is only one thing left to do: RUN!
